Le Programme CHE a été lancé en 1984 et a toujours été offert dans les deux langues officielles. Le titre « Certified Health Executive (CHE) », qui fait l’objet d’une marque déposée, n’a jamais été traduit et adapté pour les communautés francophones, contrairement au titre de fellow.
En 2016, alors que le Collège explorait la possibilité d’établir une alliance stratégique avec notre communauté francophone, certains se sont dits préoccupés par le fait que le titre de CHE n’avait pas d’équivalent français. Le Collège a donc fait de la recherche et le personnel n’a pu trouver aucune raison documentée qui aurait pu empêcher la traduction du titre en français. Le Collège a alors procédé à l’étape suivante en discutant avec le Conseil des normes professionnelles (CNP), et sous sa direction et avec les conseils de notre traductrice professionnelle, a obtenu trois titres possibles en français en examinant soigneusement le langage couramment utilisé partout au Canada et les définitions justes de divers termes utilisés par d’autres organisations. En plus, le Collège a consulté un avocat sur la question du droit d’auteur et la disponibilité des trois titres français potentiels.
Un sondage auprès d’un échantillon de membres a ensuite eu lieu, et à la réunion d’octobre 2016 du CNP, les résultats du sondage ont révélé une nette préférence pour « Leader certifié en santé (LCS) ». Le CNP a donc recommandé ce titre au Conseil d’administration lors de sa réunion de novembre 2016 et le Conseil l’a approuvé. Des changements devront être apportés aux Statuts pour que le titre devienne officiel. Ces changements seront présentés aux membres pour ratification à l’AGA de juin 2017 à Vancouver. Une fois ratifiés, le titre et l’acronyme seront déposés pour l’enregistrement du droit d’auteur.
Même si un titre français aura été créé, les membres francophones qui ont déjà obtenu leur certification et ceux qui l’obtiendront à l’avenir auront le choix d’utiliser l’acronyme CHE ou LCS.

Dear Members:
The CHE program was first launched in 1984 and to this date has been offered in both official languages. The title of “Certified Health Executive (CHE)” which is trademarked, has never been translated and adapted for the francophone community although the Fellowship designation has been.
In 2016, while the College was exploring a potential strategic alliance with our francophone community, some concern was expressed that the CHE designation title was not available in French. As a result, research was conducted at the College and Staff could not find any documented reason that may have prevented the translation into French. The next step was discussion with the Professional Standards Council (PSC) and under the guidance of the PSC, with advise from our professional translator, the College obtained 3 potential French titles looking carefully at common French language used across the country and proper definition of various terms used by other organizations. As well, the College consulted with a lawyer for the copyright and availability of the potential 3 French titles.
A focus group survey followed and at the PSC meeting in October, 2016 the survey results clearly favoured “Leader certifié en santé (LCS)” as the preferred choice and the PSC brought that recommendation to the Board at the November 2016 meeting. The Board approved the title and Bylaw changes will be required to bring it into effect. These Bylaw changes will be presented to the membership at the June 2017 AGM, in Vancouver, for ratification. Once ratified, the French language designation title and acronym will be registered for copyright.
In spite of the creation of the new francophone designation, going forward, existing and new Francophone Certified members will have the choice of using CHE or LCS as their designation acronym.
