EXTRA, who should apply? / À qui s’adresse le programme FORCES ?

The new EXTRA fellowships are available to teams composed of two to four individuals who have completed professional training in any health discipline, including medical practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, health managers and policy-makers. It is expected that recipients of EXTRA team fellowships will have completed their initial professional training in the last five to 15 years, have an ongoing commitment to the application of evidence in healthcare, and occupy leadership roles in their organizations. The team applicant(s) must provide strong evidence of support from their organization(s) throughout the tenure of the fellowship.

Jennifer Duff, CHE
What a remarkable year it has been for College member and Certified Health Executive, Jennifer Duff, Director, Mental Health, Providence Health Care (PHC).  As the 2011 Sweden Study Tour’s Emerging Health Leaders Scholarship recipient, Jennifer had the opportunity to travel to Sweden along with 17 senior Canadian health leaders. While in her role as operations leader of the Maternity and the Neo-natal Intensive Care unit at PHC, Jennifer was also this year’s recipient of the Faye Meuser Memorial Leadership Award as well as a Mission Team Award winner alongside her Maternity Team.

The College would like to congratulate College member Michelle DiEmanuele, President and CEO of the Credit Valley Hospital, for winning the Financial Post Magazine Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Hall of Fame Trailblazers & Trendsetters Award. Every year, the Women's Executive Network (WXN) honors Canadian women who are outstanding leaders in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

International Health Care Study Tour to Australia and New Zealand / Voyage d’études des soins de santé en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande

The Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) is collaborating with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) to offer a study tour to Australia and New Zealand from February 20th to March 2nd, 2012. The three cities that will be visited are Melbourne and Sydney in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand.

The first national conference and exhibition on “Health Care Facility Planning and Design: Bricks and Mortar in the ‘90s” was a success say organizers. Registration exceeded expectations with an attendance of over 300 people. The event was held in Ottawa from October 20 to 22.
