The Chapter Advisory Council (CAC) held its annual face-to-face meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 9, 2017. Chapter chairs and representatives met to discuss future initiatives such as the national membership campaign, metrics to track chapter success and tools to support chapter growth. The group shared best practices, challenges, successes and gathered to discuss ideas for collaboration across the country.

A joint retreat was also organized with the Board of Directors, CAC and the national office staff to collaborate and determine initiatives for the upcoming year to move the strategic plan forward and support the national membership campaign.

Le Conseil consultatif, section régionale (CCSR) a tenu sa réunion annuelle an face à face à Whistler, en Colombie-Britannique, le 3 juin 2011. Les présidents des chapitres ont discuté des moyens possibles de rationaliser les communications avec le bureau national ainsi que du développement du système de gestion de l’apprentissage du Collège. Une séance de planification conjointe a aussi été organisée avec le Conseil d’administration, les présidents des chapitres et le personnel du Collège afin de discuter de domaines stratégiques pour le Collège et de cerner des activités précises liées à ces domaines.

Ontario Chapter Launches Blog / Un chapitre de l’Ontario lance son blogue

The Eastern Ontario Chapter is now providing Chapter updates through their own blog. A compliment to the Chapter pages on the CCHL website, the blog will highlight upcoming events and will include feature articles. This comes after feedback received in a recent membership survey that suggested a majority of chapter members prefer electronic forms of communication.

“The blog site is intended to be responsive to members’ needs,” noted Kyle Johansen, chair of the communication and membership committee. “The blog allows chapter members to sign up to receive updates whenever the blog is updated. It also has a feature that allows members to pose and respond to questions.”

Current communication to members is done by e-mail and website updates. The blog will create a link between these two forms of communication as it allows members to engage in discussions regarding the chapter’s activities.

“We hope to use the blog to provide additional information for chapter members,” said Graham Gaylord, Chapter Chair. “Through comments on the blog we will be able to work both with the members and the College staff in order to improve our offerings to the members.”

L’Eastern Ontario Chapter fera dorénavant des mises à jour sur ses activités au moyen de son propre blogue qui complètera les pages des chapitres sur le site Web du CCLS. Le blogue présentera les événements à venir et comprendra des articles de fond. La décision de créer ce blogue a été prise après qu’un récent sondage auprès des membres a révélé que la majorité des membres du chapitre préfèrent les formes de communication électroniques.

« Le blogue vise à répondre aux besoins des membres », a fait remarquer Kyle Johansen, président du comité des communications et de l’adhésion. « Les membres du chapitre peuvent accéder au blogue et s’inscrire afin de recevoir toutes les mises à jour du blogue. Ce dernier permet aussi aux membres de poser des questions et de répondre à celles des autres. »

En ce moment, la communication avec les membres se fait au moyen du courrier électronique et de mises à jour du site Web. Le blogue établira un lien entre ces deux formes de communication puisqu’il permettra aux membres de participer à des discussions sur les activités du chapitre.

« Nous espérons utiliser le blogue pour fournir de l’information supplémentaire aux membres du chapitre », dit Graham Gaylord, président du chapitre. « Grâce aux commentaires sur le blogue, nous allons pouvoir travailler aussi bien avec les membres qu’avec le personnel du Collège pour améliorer les services et activités offerts aux membres. »

Manitoba Chapter selects Kim Warner, CHE as sponsorship recipient / Le chapitre du Manitoba choisit Kim Warner, CHE, en tant que récipiendaire de bourse

The Manitoba Chapter announced Kim Warner, CHE, Director, Applied Learning for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, as its first recipient of a $1,500 NHLC sponsorship.

The sponsorship was offered to assist a Manitoba healthcare leader to attend this year’s National Healthcare Leadership Conference (NHLC) - "Rising to the Challenge: Resources, Realities and Relationships" in Whistler, BC June 6-7, 2011. Applicants were required to submit an application as well as a letter of recommendation indicating that the opportunity fits within the overall professional development of their career’s personal growth.

Kim has been involved in the Leader’s for Life program and her application clearly identified how attendance at the NHLC would allow her to continue working on various domains from her self-learning assessment.

Notice of the sponsorship was sent to all current College members in Manitoba and to all the CEOs in the province to be shared within their organizations. It was also featured on the Manitoba section of the College website and through the CCHL Twitter account.

Le chapitre du Manitoba a annoncé avoir remis sa toute première bourse CNLSS de 1 500 $ à Kim Warner, directrice de l’application de l’apprentissage à l’Office régional de la santé de Winnipeg.

La bourse a été offerte pour aider un leader du secteur de la santé du Manitoba à assister à la Conférence nationale sur le leadership dans les soins de santé (CNLSS) de cette année, qui aura lieu à Whistler, en Colombie-Britannique, les 6 et 7 juin 2011, et dont le thème sera Relever le défi : relations, ressources et réalités. Les candidats devaient présenter une demande et une lettre de recommandation indiquant que cette occasion cadrait bien avec leur perfectionnement professionnel global et leur cheminement de carrière.

Kim a participé au programme Leaders for Life et sa demande indiquait clairement comment sa présence à la CNLSS lui permettrait, selon son autoévaluation, de continuer à améliorer les divers aspects de son leadership,

L’annonce de la création de la bourse avait été envoyée à tous les membres actuels du Collège au Manitoba et à tous les PDG de la province pour diffusion à l’intérieur de leurs organisations. Elle a aussi été publiée dans la section du site Web du Collège réservée au Manitoba et sur le compte Twitter du CCLS.

College chapters present LEADS in a Caring Environment framework / Les chapitres du Collège présentent le cadre LEADS… Diriger dans un milieu de soins

February 25th, 2010 marked the official CCHL-CCLS launch of the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework. The session, now available online, was hosted by CCHL-CCLS national office and the Eastern Ontario Chapter and featured a presentation regarding the framework by Graham Dickson, PhD.

Since the launch, the Newfoundland and Labrador, BC Lower Mainland and Hamilton & Area chapters have also hosted sessions offering College members an opportunity to learn more about the framework and earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits towards their CHE designations. In the coming week the Quebec chapter AGM will include a presentation by CCHL-CCLS President and CEO, Ray Racette, CHE regarding the framework.

“The interest and enthusiasm regarding the framework across the country and as demonstrated by the Chapter Chairs and College members is very encouraging,” said Ray Racette. “We are very excited by the possibilities of the framework and look forward to offering sessions to the membership regarding its application and use.”

C’est le 25 février 2010 que le Collège a officiellement lancé le cadre LEADS… Diriger dans un milieu de soins. Pendant cette séance, qui a été parrainée par le bureau national du CCLS et l’Eastern Ontario Chapter et qui est maintenant disponible en ligne, Graham Dickson, Ph. D. a fait une présentation concernant le cadre.

Depuis le lancement, les chapitres Newfoundland and Labrador, BC Lower Mainland et Hamilton & Area ont aussi parrainé des séances donnant aux membres du Collège l’occasion de mieux se renseigner sur le cadre et de mériter des crédits de maintien de la certification (MDC) en vue de la conservation de leur titre de CHE. Au cours de la prochaine semaine, le chapitre du Québec inclura dans son AGA une présentation sur le cadre par le président-directeur général du CCLS, Ray Racette, CHE.

« L’intérêt et l’enthousiasme que suscite le cadre dans tout le pays et que manifestent les présidents des chapitres et les membres du Collège sont très encourageants », dit Ray Racette. « Nous trouvons très excitantes les possibilités que présente le cadre et nous avons hâte d’offrir des séances aux membres sur son application et son utilisation. »
