Chapter Advisory Council meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia / Réunion du Conseil consultatif, section régionale à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique

The Chapter Advisory Council (CAC) held its annual face-to-face meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 9, 2017. Chapter chairs and representatives met to discuss future initiatives such as the national membership campaign, metrics to track chapter success and tools to support chapter growth. The group shared best practices, challenges, successes and gathered to discuss ideas for collaboration across the country.

A joint retreat was also organized with the Board of Directors, CAC and the national office staff to collaborate and determine initiatives for the upcoming year to move the strategic plan forward and support the national membership campaign.

This fall, the College is launching the #CCHLDifferenceMaker campaign aimed at recruiting new members, engaging current members, and expanding our brand’s reach. The heart of the campaign revolves around sharing members’ stories in hopes of reaching and inspiring new audiences. Not only is the #CCHLDifferenceMaker campaign an opportunity to engage potential and existing members, but it’s also our opportunity to have a broader conversation about the purpose and importance of the profession of health leadership.

Through member engagement we will share stories about the difference makers in our leadership community and the difference making initiatives that they work on every day.

Removing barriers to membership: Introducing the College’s graduated entry fee / Supprimer les obstacles à l’adhésion : introduction du nouveau droit d’adhésion progressif du Collège

The College Board of Directors, on the recommendation of the Chapter Advisory Council, is pleased to announce the approval of a 3-year graduated entry fee for all new Active Members beginning October 1, 2017.

The new graduated entry fee will be launched in coordination with our #CCHLDifferneceMaker campaign, and will help remove membership cost as a potential barrier to membership, especially for students completing their programs and leaders early in their career.

The decision recognizes the importance of growing the College’s Active membership base to offset declines in Active Membership levels associated with retirements of long-standing Active Members. Offering a graduated entry fee is new for the College but reflects a practice used by other associations, such as the American College of Healthcare Executives, to promote membership growth.

Themed “Value-based healthcare: Embracing a patient and family-centered approach”, the conference will be held in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia on June 12-13, 2017.

Ratification de la traduction du titre de CHE en français / Ratification of the translation of the CHE designation into French

Chers membres,

Le Programme CHE a été lancé en 1984 et a toujours été offert dans les deux langues officielles. Le titre « Certified Health Executive (CHE) », qui fait l’objet d’une marque déposée, n’a jamais été traduit et adapté pour les communautés francophones, contrairement au titre de fellow.

En 2016, alors que le Collège explorait la possibilité d’établir une alliance stratégique avec notre communauté francophone, certains se sont dits préoccupés par le fait que le titre de CHE n’avait pas d’équivalent français. Le Collège a donc fait de la recherche et le personnel n’a pu trouver aucune raison documentée qui aurait pu empêcher la traduction du titre en français. Le Collège a alors procédé à l’étape suivante en discutant avec le Conseil des normes professionnelles (CNP), et sous sa direction et avec les conseils de notre traductrice professionnelle, a obtenu trois titres possibles en français en examinant soigneusement le langage couramment utilisé partout au Canada et les définitions justes de divers termes utilisés par d’autres organisations. En plus, le Collège a consulté un avocat sur la question du droit d’auteur et la disponibilité des trois titres français potentiels.
