London (16 April, 2015) - SAGE has today announced that it has won the International Academic and Professional Publisher Award at the London Book Fair International Excellence Awards, in association with The Publishers Associations. The awards were presented on Tuesday, on the first day of the London Book Fair (LBF), at the London Olympia.

The LBF is considered Europe's leading international spring book fair and welcomes over 25,000 professional visitors from more than 100 countries. These awards, now in their third year, have quickly become a key industry marker for excellence in academic and trade publishing globally. The awards celebrate international excellence in the book industry, covering all areas of international publishing including: academic and scholarly, children’s publishing and digital innovation.

Stephen Barr, President, SAGE International, remarked:

“This is a great accolade for SAGE especially in our 50th year, when we are not only celebrating the growth of SAGE since our foundation in 1965 but also continuing to build the environment for SAGE to continue to flourish in the future. This award is recognition of work done by everyone in SAGE, both here in London and internationally, to ensure that SAGE continues to support our publishing partners and the wider community of scholars, libraries and students by disseminating high quality research and accessible pedagogical content.”

Jacks Thomas, Director, The London Book Fair, further stated:

“In the last few years, we have seen the rise and rise of international publishing and it is brilliant to see this celebrated at The London Book Fair International Excellence Awards. Each one of our winners brings something special to the industry. We are proud to give them the recognition they deserve as they are the people and organisations who make publishing the significant, powerful global industry it is today.”

Richard Mollet, Chief Executive, The Publishers Association (UK), added:

“It is great to see publishing innovation and excellence receives such international recognition. The sheer spread of countries whose publishing industries are recognised tonight demonstrates the continuing global relevance of our industry in the digital age. Many congratulations to all the winners this evening.”

SAGE became the publisher for the College's journal, Healthcare Management Forum in 2015, assisting the College with an on-line only implementation and an expansion from four to six journals per year.
