Board elections will be required in 2017 for the provinces of Ontario (Co-Director), Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and the Northwest Territories/Nunavut/Yukon. All certified members from these provinces/territories are eligible to nominate candidates for their respective province/territory, to stand for election to the Board of Directors for a 3-year term (2017 to 2020).

Dear Ontario Health Leaders,

I am inviting you to take part in a study I am conducting on the effectiveness of employee engagement as a tool to address the retention and attrition challenges faced in the Ontario health care system. This study which is being conducted as part of my final research project in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Masters degree of Communication Management.

The purpose of this study is to understand the benefits of employee engagement and relationship management in reducing the attrition and burnout rates of health care employees, how that intersects with patient outcomes, safety and satisfaction, and the role of the communications professional in this process.

Ottawa, Canada – January 17, 2017 – A bold healthcare initiative by the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI) is revolutionizing the relationship between healthcare providers, patients and family members – by including families as partners in care. What started as a grassroots movement launched under the banner of Better Together is now sweeping the country;  nearly 50 Canadian hospital and healthcare organizations, including the provinces of Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island are now reviewing or have already adopted family presence policies – including 24/7 visiting hours.

What’s new?

New Ottawa-Toronto Frequency
Since November 1st, VIA Rail upgraded its schedule between Ottawa and Toronto. Travellers now have a choice of two new afternoon departures (one departure each way), bringing the service offering up to nine daily departures in each direction during the week.

You asked! We listened!
VIA Rail has started equipping the new LRC cars with table extensions for Business class passengers. The table extensions will be released gradually and will offer passengers a larger work surface for their computer, or during meal service. This initiative, which was put in place in response to customer feedback, shows our commitment to putting our passenger first.
